| The Great Dane is an ancient breed and is the
National Dog of Germany. It is large, powerful and elegant. Its
impressive size makes it a good guard dog but it is also an ideal
companion. Most Danes are friendly in temperment. The original Danes
were heavier in built and were used for bore hunting. They resemble
the Mastiff. This dog needs large feeding portions and plenty of
exercise. It maybe fawn with a black mask, Harlequin (White with
black tone patches), fully black, merle or blue It wieghs 45-55 kgs
and is about 70-75 cms tall. |
